VT Hokies vs. UVA Cavaliers- Are you ready?

The Hokies are ready to face Duke this Saturday at the Hall of Fame game, but I want to skip ahead to the UVA game on November 29. The Cavs are our biggest rivals so the VT-UVA game is always one to look forward to.

While we certainly support good sportsmanship and have the highest respect for our fellow Virginians, we like to have a little fun at the expense of our neighbors in Charlottesville (oh please- like they don’t do it, too!). Campus Emporium has a great selection of merchandise in celebration of the fierce but friendly rivalry between two great schools.

All of these items can be ordered online or picked up right here in our store in Blacksburg. You ARE going to the game, aren’t you???
For game day gear like flags, tattoos, and stadium seats head to our Tailgate and Spirit Shop.

‘Till next time, GO HOKIES!

Staying Ahead of Old Man Winter

As the days get shorter and shorter, the weather inevitably gets colder. Soon we’ll be seeing snow in Blacksburg, and the town will transform into an icy wonderland. This is undoubtedly a magical time of year when you can look forward to friendly get-togethers inside a warm house, apartment, or dorm room.

If you live in the mountains or anywhere that catches a bit of winter, CampusEmporium.com can help you stay toasty. And when you’re bundled-up right in Hokie gear, you just plain look good.

When battling winter chill, the name of the game is layers (you know, like an onion). Warm air is actually trapped between the layers helping to keep you warmer than one large layer. Also, if you wear multiple layers you can easily peel off a layer or two if the temperature rises in the afternoon.

First Layer – The first item you put on in the morning should be something that’s comfortable to wear inside a heated building when you take off your coat or sweatshirt. This is the layer that will be on all day and closest to your skin, so be sure it’s something soft and comfy like our Long Sleeve Thermal or our Virginia Tech Under Armour Long Sleeve Tee.

Second Layer – This is the layer you can leave on if the heat isn’t quite working in your classroom or office. It would also work great on milder days where the temperature doesn’t get quite so low. Try our light yet toasty Virginia Tech Columbia Fleece Jacket or a good old Virginia Tech Hoodie.

Outer Layer – This layer is your first line of defense when battling the elements. This layer should be water resistant so try something like our VT Hooded Jacket.

Virginia Tech Accessories – Just because you’re all layered up doesn’t necessarily mean you’re completely protected. Areas like your hands, neck, and head should be covered to conserve body heat (and keep those nasty colds away!). Besides keeping you warm, a VT scarf or beanie is a great way to brighten up those gray winter days.
